Many of Us: A Zany Book of Collective Nouns

Many of Us: A Zany Book of Collective Nouns serves a new dish- grammar and reading coupled with fun illustrations and rhyme. It experiments with a delightful format- mixing a grammar concept with fun reading. The result is a delicious mix! Written and illustrated by Falguni Gokhale, this is a rhyming picture book that playfully introduces collective nouns. The book is apt for readers aged 5 up and is published by Tota Books (an imprint of Speaking Tiger books).

Parents and teachers often look out for books that present concepts in a fun way to children. Taking on the phrase “being together is such fun”, the book weaves in the concept of collective nouns and introduces young readers to a whole lot of animals and birds in a forest, who find an pair of shoes lying in the forest. As different groups of animals interact with these, the story celebrates language and imagination, and the creativity and fun of seeing things completely differently!

A special game at the end of the book makes it more exciting. The extra information about collective nouns adds to the book in terms of it being a good resource for the topic.

What  really stands out for me is how poetry and rhyme can merge beautifully with fiction and storytelling, and use illustrations and art to present a grammar concept in such a fun way.
